Der Europeana Transcribathon Campus Berlin 2017 ist ein Wettbewerb in dem so viele Briefe Tagebücher und Zeitungen aus dem Ersten Weltkrieg wie möglich transkribiert und annotiert werden! Machen Sie bei der zweitägige Veranstaltung mit! Diese findet von Donnerstag, 22. Juni 2017 bis Freitag, 23. Juni 2017 in der Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin statt.

Die Veranstaltung besteht aus zwei Teilen:

  1. Transcribathon Wettbewerb (Deutsch/Englisch): Ab Donnerstagnachmittag bilden Teilnehmer generationsübergreifende Teams und haben 28 Stunden Zeit, so viele Dokumente wie möglich zu transkribieren! Am darauffolgenden Abend präsentieren die Teams ihre Ergebnisse einer internationalen Jury. Es stehen eine begrenzte Anzahl von Computerarbeitsplätze zur Verfügung. Sie können jedoch auch Ihre eigenen Laptops mitbringen.
  2. Workshops (Englisch): Interessierte können am Freitag in einer Vielzahl von Data-enrichment Workshops (Transkription, Annotation, Geo-Tagging, Linked Open Data und Wikimedia/Wikisource) in einen Informationsaustausch mit Experten treten.

Europeana Transcribathon Campus Berlin 2017 verbindet die Projekte Europeana 1914-1918 und Europeana Newspapers.

Join us in Berlin for a fun-packed challenge to transcribe and annotate documents from the First World War! The focus will be on letters, diaries and newspapers from the projects Europeana 1914-1918 and Europeana Newspapers.

From Thursday 22 June 2017 to Friday 23 June 2017, you can take part in the two-day event at the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin (Potsdamer Str. 33).

It is made up of two main elements:

  1. Transcribathon competition (German/English): Starting in the afternoon of Thursday 22 June, participants will be grouped into cross-generational teams and have 28 hours to transcribe as much as they can. They will present their results to an international jury the following day. A number of computers will be provided but you are encouraged to bring your own laptop.
  2. Workshops (English): On Friday 23 June, visitors can take part in transcription and data-enrichment workshops. These include workstations for transcription, annotation, geo-tagging, Linked Open Data and Wikimedia/Wikisource. They offer participants to dive deeper into transcription and enrichment, and discuss with experts.

Europeana Transcribathon Campus Berlin 2017 is organised by Europeana, Facts & Files and the Berlin State Library, in cooperation with the German Digital Library and Wikimedia.

Registration is free via Eventbrite, but must be done before 20 June 2017
