                   Battle of Loos

I duly arrived back in France after 4 Glorious

days and went Straight back to the Trenches from

which I had come but only for a short time and

we then went back to Neux Les Mines a

Small mining town about 5 miles form the Line

where we could get a Lovely Shower Bath in

the Miners Baths and a nice clean change

and have our clothes Baked to kill the

Vermin or rather Put them to sleep until

you got them on your Back again and then

they would come too again or Revie they

seemed to come out of a different Stable

to the Ones you had often Seen as children

about 4 times the size Like Black Beetles

We soon had orders for the Line again and

went up a Little more to the right were we

could see Loos in Front of us and these were

some very nice Trenches well made and they

called it Quality St Trenches how it got

its name I dont no but it was a Proper

Nursing Home here as There was hardly a Shot

fired here day or night on Either side as

we were not asking of Trouble now as we were

Preparing for the defences for the Battle of

Loos so we did not mind as there were

Plenty of working Partys to get on with

digging Trenches Etc we had a very Tiresome

job one night up here after that Fritz

got a bit Sprightful and starting shelling

us a bit more regularly as he began to see

our Preparations for the Battle on this Time

in the Line we were here in the Trenches

for 6 Weeks before getting relieved the
