Boys over I scaled the Ladder and

Shouted come on Boys over and I

jumped over it was about a 6 Foot

Drop over the other side we were now

in no mans Land I scrambled through

the Barbed wire and started to

run toward the German Line and

it was Hell Let Loose the Shell

and Machine Gun fire was terrific

and Dozens of Men falling down

Shot all round you the bullets

seemed to whizz by your Ears I stopped

half way as I thought a bullet had

exploded in my jaw I felt my face

and found it still there and run on

stumbling and falling over man who

had been shot dead or wounded

I was dazed and sweatting terribly

and when I got to the German Line

I saw a German waiting for me in the

Trench with his Bayonet waiting for

me and I must have Lost my

senses as I through my Rifle and

Bayonet at him as I would a Dart

not thinking in the Excitment and

as Luck would have it  he turned

round to run and it caught him

in the Back he dropped Dead if

I had missed it would have been me

Instead anyway I relieved him of

his belt and Bayonet and bought

them home for a souvenir I have the

Bayonet at the Present time he was a
