My Own Darling,

              My good intentions of

writing this morning came to naught.

I spent the morning organizing work

in this camp and filling in details

in maps. After lunch I set off for a

trek round the forward area. I

had a quiet time and was lucky

enough to get tea with a Company

Commander whom I knew - in a dugout

of course. I was after six oclock when

I got back. Now after having a wash

I have twenty minutes before dinner.

Now to answer your second 58. I

don't think there will be any ill

effects from the bump. I can still

feel it a little when I am wearing

my tin hat. I am glad to hear that

my letters were like a tonic - hope
