My Own Darling,

  I received Harry's wire

this afternoon to say that the operation was

successful. I mentioned leave but there

is no possibility of it going through I

believe. You see no one is really

allowed leave until they have been

three months from leaving England unless

the powers that be will accept a

special reason & even if I send the

wire to Bde I think the fact of

the operation being a success would

prevent its being accepted as a reason

for special leave. I do wish I could

come. I hate the idea of your being

ill without my being with you.

I trust that the pain has all

gone & that you will soon be

fit again my Beloved. I shall be

anxiously waiting letters Darling. It
