a rest. You were a long time without

a letter Sweetheart but there ought not

to have been that long break for

I wrote one two days before no 27.

Yes we were snowed up for a short

time. Some of the roads were much worse

than others - the one leading out past

my billet was covered with about

four feet of snow + all had to be

dug out to allow traffic to pass.

Fortunately one road remained fairly

clear so we were not cut off altogether.

We are not exactly miles away from

anywhere because there are many

villages round about + the railway

is only four miles away. Still

the supply Dumps &c are miles away

+ as there were no motor lorries

allowed out we were lucky that

we managed to get rations. It

is surprising that they had snow

at York + you missed it at
