dinner on Saturday night. The tables

were set out exceptionally well

& the room nicely decorated. The

food was excellent & everyone

had a great time. The cost was

less than twenty francs per head including

everything. Our guests thought it

was well worth the four mile

drive in their mess carts. Sunday

was a lovely day - it was cold

but the sun was shining &

the country looked lovely. Practically

all the snow had gone. I had

a walk in the morning & another

in the afternoon looking for training

grounds. There is so much winter

corn here that it is almost

impossible to find decent areas

& it was quite impossible until

the snow went. We all sat

talking round the fire after mess

right side

& I meant to write my letter in time

for the post this morning only I got

so many other things to do as

soon as breakfast was over. We woke

again this morning to find a white

world - about three inches of snow

& it was still falling quickly. It

stopped about 10 am & then training

went on. I have been talking

about outposts &c for a considerable

period & I have a lecture to give

at 5:30 on the methods of

importing information to men.. Fancy

Kenneth looking out for my letters

like that. You ought not to be

by yourself at 10:30 pm. I ought to

be with you. You are evidently

getting similar weather to that that

we have had. Unfortunately the CO

will be back again shortly &

no one wants him. It will mean

the break up of our happy family again.
