the idea (for the time being) that hard

work gets one along. This man asks

for nothing but "eye wash" & I think

I'll almost be as good at it as he

is with a bit of practice. Yes I saw

Haig's dispatch which I thought very

good & quite temperate. Never mind

about feeling shy Sweetheart. The

Colonel would be delighted to see you

& I am sure if you were to go in

the afternoon Mrs. Johnson & Eileen would be

there also. A big slam Eh! a reference to the card game bridge Well I shall

have to mind my play when I get home

for I have had very little practice. Yes

I know Ma will be pleased to see us

all but I don't think that she at

present realises that with present &

after the war conditions money will not

go so far & that visitors mean lots

of extra expense. It was very nice

of Will & Doris to remember Kenneth &

Everyone. Harry will not have too

easy a time without a good balance to
