My Own Darling,

  No English mail arrived

here to-day so I have no letter to

answer. We had just finished tea

last night when the C.O. arrived -

Just the same as he went away, very

pleased with himself. I had to dine

in the mess but cleared out to-day.

It is much better for my peace of

mind not to be in the same room.

To-day has been like a Spring day.

We did a little drill first & then

had an eight mile march which

I enjoyed though I felt a little

tired when we got in. I was going

to ride with Dean to a neighboring

town but the C.O. ordered a meeting

at 3:45 so that knocked out the

ride. The meeting was interesting
