at about 4 am we regaled ourselves

with hot stew + mugs of tea. After

that we naturally slept until 10 am

this morning. To-day has been a

day of rest - more or less. The sun

has shone at times + in the intervals

it has snowed. I am writing in my

cellar (which I thought I had left for

good yesterday) sitting by the stove

and two sappers are engaged in

making us some better beds. Think

we shall be here for a few days

unless the Boche upsets our plans

by going to Berlin. I hear that

the war news is good for there

was a report that we had

captured a huge batch of Boche

Hope it's true. We heard the

Kaiser was dead but that I

don't believe. I am pleased you

will be staying with Maud +

John a little longer. Give them my
