My Own Darling,

  We are still having wintery

weather & I expect you are snowed up

as well. We have been warned to exercise

great economy with fuel & rations as

there is a chance that both may fail.

So far they have turned up late at

night & thought the rations are up to

the usual high standard the quantity

of the fuel leaves much to be desired.

We are very lucky in having good

billets. The old lady here looks after

us very well. The night before last

we had a great dinner. Two nice young

chickens which Madame cooked very well.

We are supposed to be training but with

the ground covered with snow it is

neither pleasant nor easy to do. Still

we do a little work & try to make

things pleasant for the remainder of

the day. I have had no letters this

last two days but expect the mail
