tired when I got back + as soon as I had

finished dinner I turned in + had a

long sleep until 3 am next day when

we set off on another march. This time

it was only a short one to the station.

Having arrived by the side of the

railway we patiently waited for the

train. Our joy was increased by a

nice rain. After about four hours of this

I found a billet where some men had

a huge fire + a number of us got

warm by it + were also provided with

hot tea + toast + dripping. I put in

time by the fire until the train

arrived soon after 9 am. We had

only a short journey as train

journeys go + having detrained marched

to a camp in a wood. The wood

had altered somewhat since I saw

it last. We found plenty of tents

one table + nothing else. I found

a bed later + when I turned in I had

a very comfortable night. The ground

right side

in the tents was very wet + muddy

but Dean +  I with the help of a truss

of hay which I found, got a dry floor.

Yesterday some of them went exploring

but I stayed behind to look after

things. In the evening a new C.O.

turned up so what will happen

now I don't know. I wish still

more that Col. Johnson had not

been hit. If there is a chance of

getting that course in the new

year I don't want to make myself

unpleasant but it is quite

evident that unless one looks after

oneself there is no real chance

of getting on. It is hard luck on

Dean but to me, at present, it

seems harder luck on me for I

have never had fault found

with any of the work I have done

+ three years work ought to count

for something. Perhaps it does but

so far I have got nothing to show
