My Own Darling,

  Had dinner with Howard

spent a pleasant evening although

the walk there & back was not

really pleasant. Col Roffey, Fallents,

Dean & I went. This morning the rain

had stopped. There was a tremendous

wind blowing & it dried the ground

well only unfortunately it has

rained again this afternoon.

Perhaps the mud has come to stay

for the winter so we must

make the best of it. We naturally

expect bad weather for the men

have all got their winter clothes

& we are the "winter scale" for

everything. We are all very

fit expect the Doc who 

has developed a cold in his
