My Own Darling Wife,

  Just a short note this

time 'cause I wrote a longer one

this morning & Dean & I are going

to have dinner with Howard tonight.

I have spent most of the day doing

office work. I wrote this morning about

leave but you may get this first.

I don't mind a bit what we do

so long as we are together only

if you are still north when

this arrives and can manage

to stay there a little longer without

upsetting your plans very much

I should prefer not to spend

the first part of the leave in

Grantham. I hope to reach London on

the 1st Nov but cannot yet say

definitely whether I shall be able
