The British Race is really a

most wonderful collection of

human beings & might possibly

be satisfied with little though

I trust on this occasion they

will demand all. Certainly we 

could get all we asked in a 

year or two for in spite of

our huge spendings we yet

prosper. I am not really in 

a thinking mood to-night. I

look upon the war more from

a soldier's point of view than from

that of a politician. I 

know we can beat the Boche on

practically every point but I

know also that it will take
