Yes Sweetheart you must keep smiling

for my sake & for Kenneth's. Of course

there is plenty of danger out here

at times - but then a lot of men don't

get hit & there is always plenty of hope.

You have had very exciting times

at Shaw Lane - soot & water. What a

good job they didn't meet & mix.

Leave is again open for officers &

so with a bit of luck I may

manage to squeeze one in in

a few weeks - although of course

there will be a good few men

who haven't been home since they

came out. Must wait & see how

things go. Give my love to all

& tell them I am very fit & well.

Tell Joan Uncle sends a kiss for

her. The Doc & the Padre are playing

patience & there is plenty of noise

so this is rather a disjointed

letter. I was glad to see you write

that you were fit Darling. I hope
