My Own Darling Wife,

  Sorry that communications were

interrupted for a few days and I hope to get

along with them again now. I am very fit

& well & after two long nights rest don't feel

a bit tired. As soon as I had written my last

letter to you I moved in a hurry to take the

CO's place and had a fairly exciting time

for a few hours. Now we are trekking back

and the guns don't sound as loud. Last 

night we had a ride on motor busses about

twenty five miles I should say & eventually

landed at our new camp about six miles

away from where we had started. Some

joy ride wasn't it? and it took nearly

five hours longer than if we had marched.

I haven't much news I can tell you except

that we shall probably get a good

allotment of leave and my three months

are well nigh completed. I was in

command of the Battalion again but

Dean turned up again last night

from his course. He seems to have had
