to choose certain articles but as

I cannot I shall enjoy reading a

letter in which you tell me you

have been shopping. My allowance

cheques &c including the increase

of pay which will soon be

credited will be good enough

for you to spend from ten to

fifteen pounds. I really mean

Lassie that I want you to have

some nice things to enjoy & for

me to admire when I come on

leave. You will get plenty of wear

out of them even though we are

lucky. This is going by special

post. We are still in the same

comfy billet & look like staying

another ten days and it may be

longer. We have got a fine battalion
