My Own Darling Wife,

It is a nice pleasant peaceful

Sunday morning & the War seems a long

way off as I sit writing in my

billet. We are too far away to hear the

guns and we get our war news from

the Daily Mail. I expect the end

of the week will bring a change.

Yesterday afternoon I had a car

to take me in to the city. I had

tea with the CO & the Doc & after

sighting for some time we had

a merry dinner party with the

addition of Fox & Hooper. The

place closed at 9:30 & so we got

home at a respectable hour after

a really enjoyable change. The

city did not look so magnificent

as the first time I saw it after
