usual but I have not had much 

practice lying on my back. To-

day has been showery but bright

& sunny in between. The CO told

me yesterday that he nearly lost

me when I returned as the Old

Man wished to post me as

second in command of our other

Battalion here - only the CO did not

like to let me go. Of course it is

nice staying here but if Dev

& Phillips return I should take a 

move to get promotion. Still

one never knows what may

happen out here. We are still

in rest but expect we cannot

look forward to being out of the 

line much longer. Then we shall

work less probably but have

more exciting times. It does take

a long time for you to get a
