Work is going along very smoothly 

now that we have got a good start.

My days work is not very strenuous.

Take to-day as an average. I get

up at 6:15 and am on parade

at 6:45. I spend half an hour 

walking round giving hints & tips

then half an hour inspecting

the cook houses & the stoves &c.

Breakfast at 7:45. See the parade

properly started at 9 am & by

ten o'clock have inspected the camp

& transport lines. At 10 am I get on

to my horse & ride over to the trenches

a thousand yards away. For three

hours I supervise the work - a hint 

here - five minutes talk there &c &c

I turn back for lunch, 2pm

COs orders 3 pm, riding lessons for

officers 4:30 tea 5pm look at tug

of war practice. 6:30 to 7 lecture
