My Own Darling Marion,

  I have just come in

from giving a riding lesson & think

it would be a good plan to write

whilst I am cooling off. To answer

your letter of the 8th "The edge of missing"

is hardly worth reading - it cannot

be up to the standard of her other

books or else it is beyond me.

I suppose Gurnbill has come back

for a rest & change. Glad Kenneth

enjoys entertaining. I am also

glad to hear that you can

look after yourself - that was

the way to talk to Stantons. I

don't think that Grantham tradesmen

are used to being treated politely.

They always do better under gentler

persuasion. Kenneth will soon

cost as much to shoe as his Daddy.
