My Own Darling Wife,

  Time seems to be passing

fairly quickly in another week

the CO will be back and then

perhaps I'll be able to get the

next allotment of leave. Two of

our men are due to go on

Monday so I am sending Notly

& Payne. Sunday being a day of rest

I have spent most of it on duty.

Church Parade in the morning &

then exploration of area of trenches

for tracking the attack followed

by a talk to the officers. I

forget whether I told you that

after Monson had nominally been

in command for a day the General

said that I was to remain in

command until the CO came

back. It is rather hard luck on
