helping than I was before I suppose

some are naturally what one calls

"a handy man" but I know that

the "handy man" is by far the most

useful at all jobs. I think that

all youngsters should be taught how

to do things e.g. to use hammer + saw

&c + be able to manage rough work

as a carpenter, joiner, smith, electrician

+ mechanic so that when a show goes

wrong he can get on with the job.

Thanks to the many things I dabbled in

when a youngster I am not often

at a loss + even our skilled pioneers

give me a certain amount of respect

because I know a little about their

various labours. As a general rule

they have a sort of pity for their

less skilled fellow men forgetting

their seven years apprenticeship which

gave them knowledge.
