My Own Darling Wife,

Thought I should have plenty of

work with these sports and I have. Still as a

change is supposed to be as good as a rest, I

must be having a good rest. Anyhow we

are in a very peaceful place - no noise or

shells come near to disturb us. To morrow

afternoon we have our regimental sports and then

on the two following afternoons the Brigade.

We are longing to arrange tea for our visitors

- who may even include six nurses - & are

trying to gather up cups saucers glasses &c.

for a hundred more or less distinguished

visitors. It should be an amusing sight

that tea table - if we manage to make a

table that is. I wish you could come

& watch the sports for many of the

events should prove very interesting.

There are some jumping events and a five

furlong for officers chargers but I don't

think I shall be able to compete as there

will be a few things to look after.

  I haven't had a letter for two

days so I may get a batch to-night:

I like getting letters but I realise that

I must not expect them to be too regular

- what with submarines & difficulties of

transport over here. Have not heard any

more about that course yet. I hope
