we shall get eight days rest. We

are a little better off for water but

it is still fairly precious. Every drop

has to be carted at least four miles.

Hope Kenneth enjoyed his

birthday cake. It is good of

Jo to think that his Daddy

would like a bit as well.

  Ta very much indeed for

the Acetylene lamp which is

just what I wanted. It will

be a great asset here &

if we have to get into deep

dugouts again it will be

still more useful. Yes ta. We

can get plenty of carbide. I

suppose Alice will be at home

this weekend & you will be

travelling by yourself. I hope

you will have a good journey
