batch any day now. This afternoon my

new tunic turned up & it is a good

fit & not heavy to wear. You might

send me out two pairs of those

big trench socks. I think they will

easily last until the cold spell is

over. I got an excellent pair of boots

from Ordnance & my feet ought to

keep dry until I get in up to my

knees. Supplies have been a little

difficult to get hold of but we have

fared very well. Plenty of good food

helped out by what we were able to

bag from a Field Force Canteen.

All the Officers are well & cheerful

but Walter seemed as if he had got

a chill this afternoon. The CO & the Adjutant

have gone up this afternoon & Mendel

with his platoon. A platoon from B & D

have also gone along with the Coy Second

in commands. Knox has also gone up as

Intelligence Officer. I saw Blanchard this

afternoon & he seems quite happy.

Kenneth would enjoy seeing all the

horses & the motors if he were here but

I don't think Alice would like to push

his pram along the roads?

There is very little to do besides
