Dear Mother and Father

Just a line to let you know

I am quite well, and hope you are all well at

home. How are your eyes now I hope they are

improved since I last saw you.

As I told you all about the voyage as far as

Cape Town, I will now try and describe the rest

of it. We arrived in Cape Town on 28th May

and I stayed there for a few hours. I didn't see very

much of it as it was dark when we got there, but

it was lovely going into the harbour. It was

grand to see all the lights shining along the

hillside and the sky quite bright with flashes

of lightning. We left Cape Town in the

morning, and had a lovely trip to Durban where

we stayed for three days. Durban is a

splendid town but small, the streets are very

wide and the houses pretty large. There is a

splendid tram service and very cheap too. also
