Gen. Teachers' Meeting

Saginaw. Oct. 2. 1915

45 minutes

Patriotism

For over a year now, since

that fateful first of August,

1914, when Germany declared

that a state of war existed between

herself and Russia, the world

has lived under a never-lifting

cloud. No thoughtful person

is able to escape the

profound depression which

is renewed every morning

when he reads the daily

press dispatches from

the seat of war. That the

six most powerful and enlightened

nations of Europe

should lay aside their usual

thoughts and their usual pursuits

and devote their entire national

energy and ability to the business

of deceiving, tricking, killing

and destroying their enemies
