the balcony to the moonlight and the wind.

A white-washed spacious room hung with

rugs and delicate embroideries, with dark low

wooden ceiling supported near the centre by one square

wooden pillar; candles in hanging parchment

lanterns give scarce? a mellow light reflected in

trays and dishes of brass & copper.

books, an old brazier full of glowing charcoal, and

two divans complete the furniture of the room,

once the harem of a favoured wife - now the

home of a woman of another race, a race

whose women are free to work and roam the world as

they will, free too, should they please, to revel

in seclusion & peace, when work and

the wandering are for the moment, done?

Is this all? There should be more.
