as the glow of sunset fades behind the mountain

beyond the bay, a warm radiance dies out

of the sea leaving it dark but for those glinting

lights from anchored ships - dark, but only for

a moment - in a little while the moon will

shed a softer glow (upon the bay) and open a 

gleaming pathway across the water, to the home 

of the gods beyond. A suspicion of soft breeze stirs the

leaves of the fig tree into a faint rattle; patches of moonlight

chase one another among the trees in the paved garden, 

as thoughts pass lightly through the mind, while two

great water pots that would hide any ten of Ali Baba's forty in deep shadows stand sentinel among

the roses.
