A scrap of paper

"Only a 'scrap of paper'!

Only a simple word

But a Briton saw that paper

And a Briton read that word.

  _________ ,, _________

A bugle note rang shrill and long,

A message sad it bore.

To arms! to arms !it loudly called,

A traitor nears our shore.

  _________ ,, _________

A couchant Sion raised his head,

A heard the sound of woe;

He rose and shook his shaggy mane

Then sprang to meet the foe.

  _________ ,, _________
