My Dear Son
I am in difficulty in regard to writing you as there
is not very much to say from the end of interest. With the
exception of the election which is causing very little excitement
although polling day is on the 14th the papers have very
little news of interest at the moment There has not been
any election cry from either party up to now although there
are signs that the Labour Party will bring the question
of consumption to the fore within the next few days.
Taking it all together it seems about the tamest election
that I remember the Rival politicians are scarcely
finding fault with each other + viewing the situation as
a whole I have come to the conclusion that the whole
thingis faked to get the political situation settled
before mobilisation takes place with all its industrial
complications.
I have sent in another Return to day showing the no. of men
I shall require within the next few months, also the no.
I expect to stop. I am making application for yourself
Tom Greenwood + Fred Stoddard. Tom Greenwood is
on leave from Bedford + called in to-day. Fred Stoddard
is in Mesopotamia so there is not much chance for him.
Have you received a slip at your end asking you if you
have a situation open for you if not you should receive
this soon. Let me know when it reaches you.
There is nothing very special at the works + I do not expect
there will be for some time till things get more settled.
