May 4 Friday
Battery all day.
No firing Visit from Lieut. Gen. A Hamilton
Gordon C. B.
May 5. Saturday
Kemmel C.P. all day 9pm German
strafe started, shells falling everywhere.
Beaver Farm, R.E. fired, not far from
our position Major and myself helped
to get fire under.. 2 cows roasted alive
Fire lasted several hours, small
ammunition exploding Upon arriving
at this fire, was warned to leave. By two
R.E. officers, dressed in slacks etc. who
did nothing to get the fire under until
Major told them. This was not untill
the Major and I had carried about
100 buckets of water each.
20 rounds on Southern Brickstack with
cross observation from K2, steel tree to
register No.2 gun
District around position heavily shelled
