bitterly cold. passed thru:- Amiens
Armentieres & Bailleul. got to latter place.
on Tuesday
February 5. Monday
Still in carriage all day. travelling 4 to 8
miles an hour, got coffee & cognac where
possible. Bought Bottle Rum, still cold.
February 6. Tuesday.
Arrived Bailleul abt 7am. plenty of
snow and Frost. Risked into siding,
got guns of train. Hitched guns to lorry
Drivers & went 3 miles by road. Had
first was & shave for 3 days. After getting
guns into position about 8pm, had eggs,
coffee bread & butter, retired about 10am
in an Armstrong hut.
Terribly cold all night.
February 7. Wednesday.
Parade. 9am. Inspected all. men's huts,
dug outs etc. enemy guns active. Rec'd
ammunition & also checked. same.
