A mother trying to find out what has happened to her son, Arthur Evans; Battle of the Somme

Title in English
Missing, presumed dead

Description
This is the letter passed on down to me for safe-keeping. It was written to my great grandmother who was trying to find out what had happened to her son, Arthur Evans, whom she hadn't heard from for some months. All she knew was that he had been badly injured during the battle of the Somme in July, 1916. Arthur was likely to have been in the North Lancashire Regiment. I don't think she was ever told officially that he had died.
